Gallery and essentials and lesson activity toolkit are excellent tools – in my experience Smart has the best collection of free resources out there.
Smart Notebook is similar to Mimio software if you have this – allows you to work on the fly or prepare lessons and save them for future use Very easy to work with, simple set of tools available You can save and work with the tools later, open them up again, export to other formats, etc.

Show the tools, especially the other tools like the spotlight and hiding – very useful for different kinds of applications Screen captures and recording – great for bringing stuff to students who did not attend class, need reinforcement, can be posted to a Moodle course, a blog, anywhere where you save work for students to see online elsewhere.
If you learn one you basically can feel comfortable in all of them. I personally don’t have access to Mimio or other boards where I’m at but the software is out there and works very similarly to the SMART product. Many of the operations for these are pretty much the exact same as any other board, though.
I like these two-minutes tutorials just as well as what can be found at YouTube although this is primarily just for SMART tech boards.
Great idea – go to teachertube or youtube and watch interactive whiteboard demonstrations, lessons recorded by teachers, etc. What I like most about using the SMARTBoard in my classroom is that I don’t have to be continually tethered to the computer in the corner while presenting and working in class.
If you don’t know anything about smartboards at all, here’s a few notes on what they can do.
What exactly is a smartboard? They come in all kinds of configurations, including projector-based ones, non-projector ones like ours, wall-mount, wheeled, etc.
Make sure to get info from participants about what they want to cover and previous knowledge of using SMARTBoards in the classroom
